Reminder From Mr Muhammad

First Meeting with our Batch Coordinator, Mr Muhammad Prashmit.

AFFECTIVE DOMAIN

Starting from Tuesday, 9 February 2010, we are requested to wear our Matric card at all time when we are in the class or in the Campus. This is because, according to Mr Muhammad, as well as being one of the college rules, our college will be having a lot of visits from various institutions all over the world, and also the Ministry. Thus we are required to play our part in upholding our College image.

Mr Muhammad informed that many lecturers or Mentors are not satisfied with the performance of their Mentee (us) when it comes to our Affective Domain. We are required to fill in our Mentee file, and other things such as Reflective Diary, Peer Assessment Evaluation and any other things regarding the issue.

When it comes to group, we are also reminded to improve our group dynamics, meaning the range of our marks in groups shouldn’t be too wide with a student getting an A, when others are failing or getting low marks. Help each other and ensure that your group have proper discussion session and also work distribution.

If possible, in any activities that you join, or Affective Domain session in class, bring your log book to ask for the marks or certification that you are joining that activity. Students are losing AD points because they do not do so.

IN CLASS & CAMPUS ISSUE

More about class issue, lecturers are complaining about our attendance and punctuality. Regarding attendance,for those who are absent for 2 days without a reason, they are required to write a letter of reason to Mr Muhammad as he had instructed. As a reminder for punctuality, please be present in the class before the lecturer come in, even for the second session (10.30 am class). Lecturers are quite disappointed with this attitude, when students only come to the class after the lecturers have come.

Mr Muhammad also reminded that if according to him, guys are not allowed to sit in the last row. The can sit at the back, or the middle, but not at the last row.

Some of the lecturers are complaining about our attire. The lecturers have seen some students wearing jeans albeit in black, and some lecturers are complaining about students wearing sport shoes or sneakers.

During end of Block Evaluation Session, when we are given a form to evaluate the class and the lecturers, please fill in the form as it is actually required from the Ministry as a way to evaluate our College performance. A bad evaluation, coming from lack of cooperation from us, will lead to our Degree being not accredited, or whatever the term is.

OTHERS

Behave and watch our attitude. Respect the lecturers and also our peers. No shouting, jeering, or screaming when lecturers or students are giving presentation. There is also a fine line between discussing or asking, and arguing. So, watch our language or tone when we are talking with others, especially our lecturers.

If anyone of us has any complaints, ideas, or anything, you are encouraged to meet with your Mentor to discuss it, or you can even meet with Mr Muhammad personally. The best way I think is, for you to report anything to your group leader and let them be your/our medium of communication.

Lastly, Microb Perception, compile per group and send it to Mr Muhammad by Monday, 15 February 2010. Please note that all of these are from the meeting and I am only conveying the information to all of us.

Salam everyone and hope you have a pleasant time ahead.

Its been such a long time since this blog was last updated. Even the supposed owner of the blog seems to be forgetting about it, but it is understandable due to the hectic schedule that we have for some time. Since the last update, many things have passed, we have the sport's carnival, and is now in our third weeks of Medical Microbiology block.

Recently, it is a good thing that the student is becoming more and more aware of the purpose of having a batch email for information sharing. However, it seems that some of the student or most of them do not follow the proper etiquette and manner when using our batch email.

From now on, please, for those who wants to share anything, an info, a video, or reply to a certain lecture or any given post, please do so by stating your name. If you think that you are doing a good thing, the right thing, than I think there will be no problem for you to state your God given identity.

People are complaining left and right, and even the lecture too, about this certain kind of attitude, which, as it seems, something that our batch is famous for. Our attitude. So please, after this, any email without proper identification will be deleted. You have been warned.

As the Malay saying goes, baling batu sembunyi tangan, dont do this as this is such a cowardly act. Hope we can all coperate for the benefit of our batch.

Salam guys,

Happy holiday to all and hope you have a pleasant holiday wherever you are. First of all, I would like to apologise for the late update. In order to ensure that our lecture is minimally intruded while they are away on their business, I wish this can make things clearer for everyone.

For our Behavioural Science block, we will have an individual assignment and a group assignment. For the individual assignment, it will take course as the block goes, meaning, the whole block.

For this week, your holiday week, (7 December onward) you just have to identify your daily routine or behaviour, or as it is termed, collect a baseline data. From there, select, identify and work on a spesifc behaviour which you think can be modified or best used for the assigment, for example correlation of sleeping time with wake up time, eating habit with weight increase or decrease, or study time with exam marks.

When you have identified it, then, as we started the block (14 December onward) and for the next three weeks you have to work on that specific behaviour that you have choose and collect your related data. Then, by the 4th week, 28 December, you should be ready with all the data and presentation, and begin your writing set up.

Assalamualaikum,

Before we start with Behavioural Science, the week after our holiday, we will be having a CHET reflection/perception session. Each of the group must be prepared with one slide, one slide only, as a presentation. During the session, each group must come forward with all of their members but only one will present. Among the things that must be presented is/are :

What have you learn from the visit, one that you thing will serve you well as a medical student, and for the future as a doctor, if God willing we will actually become one.

Best visit and worst visit, and why is it so and what can you learn from that visit.

And then for those who havent submitted their softcopy, hardcopy or the CHET form, please do so and submit it yourself to Dr. Tayyab. Thats all regarding CHET.

Behavioural Science

The notes, instructions and all ( I dont know what it is since I havent looked at it yet) have been uploaded in the Gmail. Please do not delete it, first. Then please read it regarding your individual assignment. After the Patho final of course.

I have been given a copy (hardcopy) of the notes, scl, and all of the things regarding the course, which I will make a copy for each group, as instructed by the lecturer. From there, the onus fell on the group to distribute the notes and instruction. Hopefully, I can give it to you all by Thursday but I highly doubt it as there are so many of it. So it will be ready for your group by Friday. So be patient for the time being.

Again, as a reminder, there are individual assignment for the next block so check the Gmail and read the instructions.Spread the words to your friends and make sure no one get left out.

Prepare a six-page pamphlet/brochure on managing stress in life as a medical student. Your pamphlet should primarily contain your own suggestions on methods of dealing with stress.

You are free to include additional relevant information on your brochure but you are not to exceed the six-page limit.

This is a group effort and you will be assessed as such.

Completed hard copies of your assignment are to be submitted by 24th December 2009.

The best brochure will be selected for distribution to CUCMS students in the next academic session (2010/2011).

1) Sports carnival
Salam to all CUCMS students.
There will be a meeting for the annual Sports Carnival year 2009 and the details are as below:
Date of meeting : 2nd November 2009
Time : 5 pm
Venues :
· LUNG (Blue House) - Prof Nasar : Hall 1 and 2
· BRAIN (Yellow House) - Prof Latiff : Auditorium
· HEART (Red House ) - Prof Ikram : Hall 3
· KIDNEY (Green House) - Prof Hamdan : Computer Lab
The purpose of this meeting is to elect new inter-house board members, sports committee members, as well as players for each house.
Each house will be given forms for the above purpose and they will need to fill it in. Each house president will hand it over to the Sports Carnival '09 Organizer, Izzad Emir bin Ismail at the end of the meeting.
Among the games that will be held this year are:

I'm sorry to inform that the students participating for the BLS training and exams WOULD NOT GET CERTIFICATES. Prof. Ikram just gave his conformation on the matter as it appears that we have some difficulties regarding certification. regardless, we will continue BLS training on monday for those interested for LTDJ and the formation of BLS team.. I take full responsibility for getting your hopes up with the certificates and all.. I apologize, If i do make an event for the BLS team, i'll be sure to get everyone involved. Thank you.

Dear students,
You should have got the ttable for the whole of semester 1 from Mr Muhd Prashmit earlier. Anyway, i just attach the gpath part in case you haven't got it. The reason is bcos i received queries about eidul adha leave.
There is only 1 scl class on Thursday before the eidul adha. The reflection session can be negotiated with your mentor to reschedule earlier or later.
There are a total of 21 classes, therefore u can only afford to miss 4 classes thru out the block. Plan ahead and plan well.

A`Kum, All students please find slightly modified visit schedule for first two visits. Some groups have 1 and some have 2 visits, prepare your tasks/ objectives accordingly and submit by tomorrow (6th Oct) evening and follow your visits. At the end every group will have 5 visits. I will upload the schedule for the remaining weeks later on. Please inform your friends and classfellows to check this new schedule. Thank you.

Sorry for no posting,which I had promised our beloved batch reps. to do so,about days ago.Im sorry X3 Been really tired lately, haven't been feeling too well and the weather doesn't help either >_<''

So how was 1st week of Intro. Medical Physio,excited? fun? hectic? dull?

Me? I love this block so much ♥ The way Prof.Hamdan conduct the lectures is really nice especially the case studies. It was just my taste because we got chance to expose ourselves to clinical cases. And let us all together pray for this poor Ms.J....

Oh and I found somethings amazing and it WOW me a lots XD

Just imagine this happens in our own cell body every single minute and each single second.And their world is as big as ours!!!! Awesome~

General Anatomy : Reflection

Salam and happy holiday to everyone.

In order to make this blog alive, I've decided to keep on writing until there is other people who can and is eager to volunteer to be part of the writing team, which I hope will come sooner than later.

Congratulations to everyone upon completing our first block as a Medical student, the General Anatomy block last friday. Thanks to Group 11 for the Grand Reflection session too. Looking back, there will be few ups and downs moments for everyone regarding the block, whether it is about academical achievements, exam results, or other non-academical stuffs and personal going throughout the whole month. Well, let bygones be bygones and hopefully, we can take lesson from our first in order to prepare us for the coming challenges and grow stronger and more compact and solid, both individually and cumulatively as a whole batch.

Truthfully, I dont know whether I still am the representative for the batch as some say that it is changed according to block. But anyways, allow me to say that for the next block, several issues require our full cooperation such as the attendance. It is my wish that everyone can be alert on class regarding the attendance whereabouts so that no person will be left missing and I have to track each person personally for their attendance. Be aware of not only yourself, but also your friend because it is our duty as a whole batch to remind our friends because we ourself need a reminder from time to time. Then, make sure that the attendance is either handed to me or the lecturer at the end of the class.

And then, there's the class issues. For next Tuesday, 8 September 2009, the Affective Domain session will be conducted by Group 2. So for Group 2, be ready with your Tazkirah, and make sure that it is of good quality within 10 minutes time. Its Prof Hamdan we are talking about, no longer the laidback and easygoing Miss Shaheera. Then for the next day, Group 3 will be conducting the class and giving short Tazkirah and Group 4 after that. For each day, your group will conduct the prayer recital session, tazkirah, and also ensure the class is ready for teaching by getting the technical issues ready. Dont be a group of ignorant people that you need to be reminded each and everyday that it is your group turn. Sorry for the harsh words there.

Prayer recital, short Tazkirah, ensuring the projector, mic, and PC is working. Thats all is required from your group.

And then, its is alarming watching people swarming the lecturers for notes when it has been reminded that only a few should come. Maybe only the group leader should get the notes. Maybe only the class representative. People swarming the lecturers shows that you dont believe in your friend to pass the notes on to you that you have to get it yourself personally. Which brings us to the next issues. Tenths of people getting the notes but only a few is uploading it and sharing it with others. I'll leave that for you guys to decipher yourself.

Embarassment

On Thursday, 3 Spetember 2009, several of the male students were asked to be a (paid) volunteer for the Second Year OSCE Examination. The name lists were given, and they had to do is found a replacement if they cant, or dont want to make it. Simple. On Thursday, all of the lectures have gathered and they are all waiting for our batch to come so that the OSCE examination can take place. Embarrassingly, some didn't manage to make it or even find a replacement, thus the OSPE Examination is delayed for almost an hour. All due to the fault of our batch. I didn't have to repeat the words that was thrown at me personally, or our batch collectively, but it did left a bad taste for all of the lecturers. Words like attitude problem, was thrown away at regular interval that day. I know as I was there the whole day, just a day before our final exam.

For those who manage to come and participate, I personally congratulate all of you and for those who is willing to come as a replacement. I guess everyone will agree how much that we managed to learn that day, not to mention a healthy input to our wallet. Kudos to all of you for spending your time. For those who wasn't selected, don't worry as your time will come soon :)

Individually, you guys are such a great and wonderful people and I am seeing proof of that everyday. It is overwhelming to be in a talented pool of people everyday but, collectively, as a whole, there are much much more room for improvement. Hope everyone is ready for the second block and thanks for the great first month in CUCMS.

My apologies for any harsh words, and the long post. Hopefully, this will be for our benefits.

Salam and happy weekend to everyone.

Ocean asked me to start the ball rolling by writing the first post in here which hopefully, will be the start for many and many more entries. As I dont actually know what am I supposed to say or write in here, im just going to state the plains here, hoping that this will remind everyone the thing or things that awaits us in the coming week.

First of all, we have the PPD assignment from Prof Hamdan, the Adab of Learning which consists of two parts, the 5 minutes power point presentation and then the poster which needs to be submitted in a printed B3 format. Remember to download the instructions or guides provided in the CUCMS0910 Google Group which I hope everyone of us can join and be an active member, not just a silent member.

And then we still have to do the Lab Report for the connective, muscle, and nervous tissue if im not mistaken, which needs to be submitted by Tuesday. Now, I hope anyone who have a good references sites can share with us, for the greater good. I'll starrt by listing two sites which I know and one of them is a site which I secretly spied from Miss Shaheera references. The 1st one is the New England site and the other one is the one I saw Miss Shaheera is using. There are also some quizzez in there so, we can test ourself and maybe, just maybe, some of the exam questions could be from there :p

If not, we can still have the benefits of testing ourself in the quiz. Here is the site from Miss Shaheera. Hope more people can share any useful reference site here.

Then, I dont know for some of you but for some, we have to prepare our diaries and notes for the reflection and affective domain session with our mentors. Add to that, our final exam and the block exam on Friday, next week is sure going to be one hell of a week then.
